# Events Calendar and Agenda: setup guide

This guide covers how to set up Events Calendar and Agenda: installing it, adding events, choosing a view, setting the timezone, and the filters, labels, styles and structured data that come with it. Each section matches a group of fields in the page editor, so you can keep this page open while you work. If you want to see the finished result first, the [live demo](https://portal-dev.allgusto.com/events-calendar-and-agenda-demo) shows the month calendar and the cards with fictional events. Questions go to info@allgusto.com.

## 1. Install and add the module to a page

Install Events Calendar and Agenda from the HubSpot Marketplace (it is free), then add the module to a website page, landing page, or blog template. The module is not tied to a theme. Heading color and heading font inherit from the theme when the theme exposes those fields.

## 2. Adding events

Each row in **Events** is one event.

- **Title** is the name visitors see.
- **Start** and **End** use the editor date and time picker. The value is stored as an instant and shown in the **Display timezone**.
- Leave **End** empty for a one-hour event.
- **All day** hides the time and shows the all-day label.
- **Event type** is free text. Use the same spelling for events you want grouped later.
- **Location** is a venue name, or Online.
- **Button link** is the registration or details URL. Only `https://`, `http://`, `mailto:`, a same-site path (`/…`), or an on-page `#` link is rendered.
- **Registration embed** accepts a supported oEmbed URL (video and other providers HubSpot can resolve). Eventbrite, Humanitix, Zoom, and Cvent are not oEmbed providers, so the button link is the registration path in this version. A third-party account is required for any embed that does resolve.

## 3. Featured events

Mark up to three events as featured. Featured items use a stronger border. The sample Annual Conference ships featured.

## 4. Choosing a view

**Layout** is Cards, Month calendar, or Agenda.

- **Cards** is a responsive set of event cards.
- **Month calendar** is a six-row month. **Calendar month** is a date picker: pick any day in the month the grid should open on. The month is that date's calendar month in the display timezone. Previous month and Next month move the grid in the browser. Weekday names are Sunday-first and rotate when **Week starts on** is Monday.
- **Agenda** is a chronological list grouped by the start date in the display timezone. Each day has a heading built from the weekday and month names (weekday, month, day, year). **Time format** is 12-hour or 24-hour. The time range separator sits between the start and the end. An empty end is one hour. A multi-day event stays on its start day and shows the end date. All-day events show the all-day label instead of a clock time.

## 5. Timezone and date format

Use an exact IANA timezone name from the standard list, such as America/New\_York. If the field holds text that isn't a timezone, the module falls back to America/New\_York and shows a warning in the editor.

Language and region is a BCP 47 tag (en-US, en-gb, de-DE, es-419). A tag that does not match falls back to en-US.

Enter event times in your HubSpot account's timezone (Settings \> Account defaults). Display timezone only controls how they're shown.

Day arithmetic for the grid is done from 12:00 in that zone, so a daylight-saving hour cannot move an event to the wrong date. The five teaching events that ship with the module are dated October to December 2028.

## 6. Filters and search

**Events shown at first** is how many events Cards and Agenda show before **Show more**. The default is 10. Show more reveals the rest. Show less returns to that first count. The month calendar is not limited this way, and it has no Show more control. Search and the type filter still hide chips there, and the six rows stay.

**Search** matches the title, location, and event type. **Event type** buttons list each type once. Differences of case or surrounding spaces count as the same type. Search and type apply together. Changing either collapses Show more. **Clear filters** empties the search and returns the type to All.

Cards stay in the order you set in the editor. The agenda stays in start order, and a day heading is hidden when none of its events are shown.

The address bar does not store the filter. The button text, the search hint, Show more, Show less, Clear filters, and the announced count (`{count} events shown`) are in **Labels**. After a search, a type filter, Clear filters, or Show more/less, that count is announced. The active type button shows a check mark as well as a filled background.

## 7. Labels

**Labels** holds every string visitors see, including Previous month, Next month, the time range separator, weekday names, and month names. Leave weekday or month names empty to let the visitor's language fill them. Translate the fields; do not edit the template.

## 8. Styles tab and brand colors

Heading font and Heading color inherit the theme heading font and primary color when the theme exposes those fields. Gap between cards, under Spacing, sets the space between event cards, from 0 to 64 pixels (24 by default).

## 9. Event structured data

The module can add structured event data to your page in the schema.org Event format, which search engines read. The setting is on by default. It covers events that have not ended and have a location; an event without a location still shows on the page but is left out of the structured data. If your page or theme already outputs Event data for the same events, turn the setting off so the events are not described twice. I also recommend turning it off on any page that shows sample or test events, such as the default teaching events or a demo page, so search engines don't index events that are not real.

## 10. Registration embeds

The Registration embed field takes a URL from a provider HubSpot can resolve through oEmbed, such as a video. Eventbrite, Humanitix, Zoom and Cvent are not oEmbed providers, so for those events, put the registration page in Button link instead. When an embed does resolve, it loads when a visitor opens the event's details, and the register button stays the main call to action. See section 2 for the link rules.

## 11. Default teaching events

The module ships with five teaching events, all in 2028: Annual Conference on 18 October, a blocked-link check on 20 October, Northeast Chapter Meetup on 9 November, Webinar: Member Benefits Explained on 15 November, and Board of Directors Meeting on 6 December. The blocked-link event points at an unsafe test link and renders as text, with no link, to show that unsafe links are not output. Annual Conference ships with featured turned on. Replace these events with your own.

## 12. What this module does not connect to

This module does not read your CRM, HubDB or marketing events. Every event lives in the module's own fields in the page editor, and you add or change events there.
